5 At-Home Stress Relieving Activities

November 8th is International Stress Awareness Day! Shorewest, REALTORS® is well aware of the stress that home buying and selling can bring. Our agents work tirelessly to ensure an easy and stress-free process for all of their clients. That being said, many different situations or life events can cause stress. If you’re looking for ways to decompress and relieve stress, check out our blog for 5 stress relieving activities you can do at home!

Exercise

Exercise is a great stress reliever and causes your body to release feel-good hormones like endorphins. This can help maintain and regulate stress levels in a healthy way. Whether it’s cycling, yoga or weight lifting, a short 30-minute workout at home can help you relieve stress and move forward with a more positive mindset.

Organize

Your space is often a reflection of your stress levels. Take some time to organize and clean even just one area in your home. Sit down and write out everything you need to get done and each step you’ll need to take to complete each task. Prioritize what must be done first and identify what can be left to a later time or what you might be able to assign to someone else. Be realistic about how much time it will take you to complete each task and build space into your schedule to reward yourself for getting the job done. (Health.au)

Aromatherapy

Using scents to treat your mood is called aromatherapy. Several studies show that aromatherapy can decrease anxiety and improve sleep. Lighting candles or using essential oils in scents like lavender, rose, vetiver, chamomile and ylang ylang can help promote relaxation. Pair with some calming music and deep breathing!

Journaling

One way to handle stress is to write things down. While recording what you’re stressed about is one approach, another is jotting down what you’re grateful for. Gratitude may help relieve stress and anxiety by focusing your thoughts on what’s positive in your life.

Spend Time with Friends and Family

Time with your family, friends or pets is important! Social support can help you get through stressful times. Whether you’re watching a movie, making dinner or playing a game, focus on having a good time with the people that mean the most to you!
