On Sunday, January 1st, REALTOR® Mary Steinke celebrated an astounding 55 years in real estate. Mary has held many different titles during her time with Shorewest, including being the first woman to be a sales director at Shorewest’s Oconomowoc (now Lake Country) office in 1970. She served as Sales Director for 28 years before moving back into sales with her late husband, Brian. Mary credits the fact that the pair moved 15 times in 11 years as what gave her an appreciation of what a home really is.

Not only has Mary helped clients find their dream home as a real estate agent, she has opened her own house to various people over the years. From foster children, to families finalizing a home sale, to traveling musical groups and single mothers with their children, Mary and her husband have provided a safe space for their entire community with their home. Mary continues to provide that sense of community through her work at Shorewest, REALTORS®

“Having Mary on our team has truly been a blessing,” says Shorewest President, Joe Horning. “She is someone that agents of all experience levels can look up to and learn from. Mary Steinke continues to be a leader, willing to share her experience, ideas and goals with all of our agents here at Shorewest.”

Mary was honored with the Greater Milwaukee Association of REALTORS® Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020, shortly after the passing of her husband. She is currently a part of Team Steinke with her granddaughter, Joelle Steinke Gosda, who assumed many of the roles her grandfather played in the Steinke’s real estate team. Team Steinke are looking forward to continued service in the Lake Country and Kettle Moraine communities as part of the Shorewest family in 2023.
